Principal's Message

Dear Sonora Elementary Families,
On behalf of the entire Sonora staff, I’m thrilled to welcome both our new and returning families to the 2025 - 2026 school year! As we gear up for an exciting year ahead, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to our incredible school community.
What makes Sonora truly special is the joy you feel the moment you walk onto campus. The laughter on the playground, the way students light up around their teachers, the rich conversations in classrooms, and the unwavering dedication of our staff. Together, we strive to create a nurturing environment where every child feels seen, supported, and inspired to learn.
At Sonora, we are united in our commitment to providing a high-quality, rigorous education while fostering a culture of kindness, respect, and determination. We believe in empowering our students to set meaningful goals, grow as critical thinkers, and show empathy in their daily lives.
We are proud of our accomplishments, from our 2020 Distinguished School Award and continued growth in state assessments, to our deep commitment to the Arts and the guiding values of the Six Pillars of Character.
Your involvement is essential in making Sonora a place where students thrive. Whether you’re volunteering in classrooms or on field trips, joining the PTA, attending school events, or simply supporting your child’s learning at home, your engagement strengthens the fabric of our community.
This school year's theme is MANY NOTES, ONE SONG.
At first glance, a single musical note might seem simple, brief, even incomplete. But when joined with others, each note becomes part of something greater: a song. And just like a beautiful melody is created through a harmony of different notes, so too is a strong and vibrant community made up of many individuals, each bringing their own unique gifts. Just as a song needs a variety of notes that are high and low, loud and soft, each person has a special role, purpose, and voice. None is more important than another; each is essential to the whole.
MANY NOTES, ONE SONG reminds us that our differences are not divisions, but parts of a beautiful design. When we offer our individual talents, perspectives, and hearts to one another, we create a life-giving harmony and create a song that reflects the same purpose and goals.
Whether in a classroom, a family, or a community, this message calls us to listen to one another, honor each other’s contributions, and work together in love because every note matters.
Thank you for being an essential part of our school family. I am always more than happy to talk or meet and you can email me at mdoidge@nmusd.us, call the office at 714-424-7955, or find me out front!
It's my honor to work alongside you and let's remember that collectively we can achieve the same goal by remembering that we are MANY NOTES, ONE SONG.
Sonora Love,
Mrs. Mia Doidge
Principal
