Principal's Message

Dear Sonora Elementary Families,

Welcome to Sonora Elementary School, home of the Eagles! On behalf of the Sonora staff, I'm so excited to welcome our new and returning families to the 2024 - 2025 school year! As we prepare for the new year, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for our school community.

What I love about our school is the laughter you hear on the playground, the students who smile adoringly at their teachers, critical thinking in classrooms, and the depth of love and commitment the staff has for our children.  We work collectively to create a nurturing environment where each child feels valued, supported, and excited to learn! We aim to build a foundation of curiosity, kindness, and resilience that will serve our children throughout their lives.

At Sonora we work collectively to support our students, families, and one another in providing a high quality and rigorous education. We also choose to create a learning environment that helps to maintain positive and respectful relationships, set and achieve goals, and show kindness and empathy towards one another.

We will continue to pride ourselves in our 2020 Distinguished School Award, our growth in state testing, our strong partnerships and devotion to the Arts, and our Six Pillars of Character traits.

Your commitment and involvement play a crucial role in shaping our school's vibrant and diverse culture. Your partnership in this journey is invaluable. Whether it’s through volunteering, joining the PTA, attending events, or simply encouraging your child’s learning, your engagement makes a huge impact!

This school year's theme is KINDESS COUNTS.

The dictionary definition of kindness is the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate. Kindness can increase your sense of connectivity with others, decrease loneliness, and improve relationships. We want to focus on our words and actions and will work this year on including and accepting others, regardless of their differences, and showing kindness. We invite our families to join us in our theme and will have lots of resources to provide throughout the school year!

Thank you for being an essential part of our school family. I am always more than happy to talk or meet and you can email me at mdoidge@nmusd.us, call the office at 714-424-7955, or find me out front!

It's my honor to work alongside you and let's show one another that KINDNESS COUNTS!

Sonora Love,

Mrs. Mia Doidge
