Paddle Out, Tree Planting and Fundraiser in Memory of Kyle Johnson
Saturday morning there's a "Paddle Out" in memory of Kyle Johnson. 8am at the Newport Pier.
A tree will be planted in Kyle's memory in front of Sonora Elementary School after the Paddle Out.
Chick-fil-a Fundraiser for the family from 11am - 7pm at the CM Chick-fil-a on Harbor. 20% of all proceeds during that time will go to Kori and kids. No flier needed.
Costa Mesa is a great community in which to belong!

Mr. St. Royal Receives an Orange County Outstanding Music Educator Award!
Congratulations to Nicholas St. Royal, our amazing Band Director, on his recent "Outstanding Orange County Music Educator Award." Nick received this well deserved award on May 7th at the Segerstrom Performing Arts Center. Nick provides amazing band, handbell choir and show choir experiences for our students. He and his Advanced Band just won a 1st Place "Excellence" Award at Disneyland's Music in the Parks. Mr. St. Royal and his students ROCK! Thank you, Mr. St. Royal, for all you do!
Sonora School wins 1st Place with an Excellent rating at Disneyland's "Music in the Park" school band competition. Sonora is the only elementary band competing in this middle school/high school competition! Congratulations Mr. St. Royal and our Advanced Band Students on this phenominal win!

A Huge THANK YOU Community Partners!
A huge thank you goes out to the Costa Mesa Foundation and Bill Turpit, Grants Committee Chair, for their generous donation of $2,000 to help cover the cost of our popular and successful "Ticket to Read" program here at Sonora! Our students LOVE this program, which fosters increased reading fluency and comprehension at all levels.
Rock Harbor Church and the Crossing Church for their ongoing support of our school! They have made significant improvements to our campus during annual Make-over Days, breakfast and lunch for our staff a couple times during the school year, teacher supplies and backpack stuffed with wonderful school supplies! Holy Trinity Church is joining our community partnerships this year providing classroom instructional supplies and volunteers to tutor individual students needing a little extra support. We LOVE our Costa Mesa Church Partnerships!!
Newport Balboa Rotary Club for donating a beautiful tree planted in the front of our school on March 7, 2013 in preparation for Arbor Day. Thank you, Newport Rotary!
